A 7th grade English teacher at Grimsley Junior High in Centerton, AR had an idea to create a system of “houses” (inspired by Harry Potter) that revolved around various genres of literature.

After collaborating with her team to devise names for each house, she commissioned me to draw up “badges” that resonated with the house name. 

The resulting badges were created using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Much of the digital illustration was executed with Photoshop’s extensive brush library and then I used Illustrator because I preferred its ease of artboard production to that of Photoshop’s layered approaches. So I assembled scrollwork and imagery to ultimately provide the teacher with high resolution files that she would go on use for various media.
